The history of Toulon Golf

Toulon Design was founded in 2015 by Sean Toulon and his sons Tony and Joe, focusing on designing and making premium, precision-milled putters. It wasn’t long before Callaway took notice, acquiring Toulon Design in 2016, and bringing their Toulon Design putters into the Odyssey Golf family. This exposed the brand to far more amateur and professional golfers, and helped to firmly cement the Toulon reputation in the market. Fast-forward to 2023, and, in partnership with Callaway, Sean co-founded Toulon Golf with his son Tony and golf entrepreneur Toru Kamatari after retiring from Callaway.

With his name on over 100 golf club patents, Sean Toulon has an impressive pedigree in the world of club design. During the course of his career, he has been involved in creating some of the most iconic clubs the game has to offer. Before his time at Callaway and the evolution of Toulon Design, Sean spent a long time with TaylorMade, where he led the creation of TaylorMade 300 Series woods and irons, the TaylorMade R9 driver and the Spider putter up until his retirement from TaylorMade in 2015.

What makes Toulon putters so special?

Toulon putters carry a pretty high price tag, but when you play with one you’ll quickly see why. Not only do they feature cutting-edge, meticulous design and craftsmanship, along with the latest innovations in club design and weight distribution, but they’re also pretty pleasing to the eye. Combine all that with the fact that Toulon putters are highly customisable with various grip, shaft and finish options and precise weight distribution, and use luxurious materials like steel, tungsten and aluminium, and you’ve got a putter that comes as close as possible to perfection.

They’re a regular sight on the world’s most prominent courses and at global golf tournaments, and feature fairly frequently in the golf bags of some of the world’s most elite golfers (such as global superstar Xander Schauffle, who is currently using the Toulon Las Vegas prototype 7CN.)
