How to build a set of affordable golf clubs for less than £500

Whether you’re a beginner or intermediate golfer, one of the main considerations that you’ll take into account when buying second-hand golf clubs is the level of forgiveness they offer. In a nutshell, a forgiving golf club is one that’s been designed to compensate for poor shots, with features like a larger clubhead for a bigger sweet spot, and a longer and lighter shaft. The great news is that at golfclubs4cash we’ve got plenty to choose from!

Euan from our Edinburgh store recently took up our challenge to build a set of forgiving golf clubs for under £500. Let’s find out how he got on (or you can watch the video on our Instagram channel here, or YouTube if you prefer).

Here are Euan’s top picks for an affordable, forgiving golf club set.

Focusing first of all on the long game, Euan starts with the driver. He’s selected a TaylorMade Burner Superfast which has a massive sweet spot, giving you the very best chance of achieving the speed and distance you’re looking for even if the shot isn’t quite up to scratch. He’s paired this with one of the most renowned and longest 3-woods, the TaylorMade RBZ, which is a fantastic choice for a beginner golfer. He’s opted for the Adams 4-hybrid 20 degrees, and this is a hybrid that’s known for its forgiveness. As for the irons, what better choice than a set of PING G30 irons (5-SW) These little beauties offer a faster ball speed along with plenty of forgiveness so they’re a very popular choice for recreational golfers who are looking to offset a less-than-perfect technique. For the putting green, Euan has gone for the classic PING Karsten BeCu putter, which brings exceptional precision and consistency.
